Tank Vent Filters for Water Treatment Systems

Filters are used to prevent airborne dust and organisms from entering tanks containing treated water. This protects water quality and system components. You can read more detail about tank vent filters below, or go to the product selection table at the bottom of this page to explore specific vent filter options.

The schematic below shows a complete water treatment system that can deliver multiple grades of water. The possible locations of vent filters highlighted.

  2. B- Carbon Fines Trap
  3. C- Resin Trap

Contamination Control

Controlling the contamination of water while it is in a tank is critical to the quality of the water at the point of use. Adding water to tanks forces air out, just as emptying tanks draws outside air into the tanks. Since the air around tanks is full of airborne bacteria and other contaminants, filters are used to prevent those contaminants from reaching the water.

In most systems, the tanks used for water storage are sealed. That makes sizing a vent filter system critical. A filter system that overly restricts the flow of air in and out of the tank can cause the tank to overpressurize (and possibly damage seals) or be subjected to a vacuum (and potentially collapse the tank). Critical Process Filtration has years of experience sizing filter systems and can help you design your system to avoid such issues.

Custom systems are designed for new applications and to solve challenges in existing processes. Critical Process Filtration will work with you to design, build and install a cost-effective system that delivers the results you need.
